Gatifloxacin is an antibiotic of the fourth-generation fluoroquinolone family,that like other members of that family, inhibits the bacterial enzymes DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV. 

Gatifloxacin is used to treat a variety of bacterial infections. It works by stopping the growth of bacteria.

This medication belongs to a class of drugs called quinolone antibiotics.

This antibiotic only treats bacterial infections. It will not work for viral infections (e.g., common cold, flu). Unnecessary use or overuse of any antibiotic can lead to its decreased effectiveness .

This product is mainly used by a variety of infections caused by sensitive pathogens of diseases, including acute exacerbation of chronic bronchitis, acute sinusitis, community acquired pneumonia, simple urinary tract infection (cystitis) and complicated urinary tract infection, acute pyelonephritis, the male urinary tract inflammation or rectal gonococcal infection and gonococcal cervical infection in women.
