Tetracycline hydrochloride is the hydrochloride form of the tetracycline. Tetracycline is a kind of broad-spectrum polyketide antibiotics produced by the Streptomyces genus of antinobacteria. It is a kind of bacteriostatic antibiotics which inhibits the bacteria growth through binding to the 30 S ribosomal subunit, blocking the aminoacyl tRNA from binding to the translating ribosome, thus interfering with the protein synthesis process. It is used for the treatment of infections occurring in urinary tracts, respiratory tract, and the intestines. Because of the problem of drug resistance, tetracycline is not a frequent choice for treating bacterial infections. However, it is still used for the treatment of infections caused by chlamydia, Rickettsia and Spirochetal.

1. This product has a certain antibacterial effect on some anaerobes, but it is far inferior to metronidazole, clindamycin and chloramphenicol, so it is not used clinically. Over the years, due to the extensive application of tetracyclines, Gram-negative bacteria such as Staphylococcus and gram-negative bacilli, such as Staphylococcus, have been extensively drug-resistant to tetracycline.
Moreover, there are cross resistance among the species of the same kind. The action mechanism of this product is that the drug can specifically bind to the A location of the ribosomal 30S subunit, and prevent the binding of aminoyl tRNA on this site, thereby inhibiting the growth of peptide linkage and affecting the protein synthesis of bacteria.
2. The first choice for the treatment of non bacterial infection of Chlamydia, Rickettsia, mycoplasma pneumonia disease, relapsing fever and other infections, but also for the treatment of brucellosis, cholera, tularemia, rat bite fever, anthrax, tetanus, plague, actinomycosis, gas gangrene and sensitive bacterial respiratory system, bile duct, urinary tract infection and skin and soft tissue infection etc.
