Para-aminobenzoic acid (PABA), also called aminobenzoic acid, a vitamin-like substance and required by several types of microorganisms.

Soluble in hot water, ether, ethyl acetate, ethanol and glacial acetic acid, insoluble in water, benzene, and insoluble in petroleum ether.
